Chevy Beretta Engine Swap Questions?
Hey guys, I was wondering what kind of modifications to a beretta I would need to make to make a bigger liter GM engine (aka 3.4L or the 3.8L) fit into a 1990 beretta indy 500. I heard that the transmission bolt pattern is the same on the 3.1′s (my current engine) and the 3.4′s (probably the engine I’d choose to put in)… if a 3.8 L had the ability to fit into my car, I would do it.. I have a 5 speed getrag tranny in it now… so I know the 3.4 will work.. my question is what else would I need to make the conversion… will a 3.4 L just bolt right in?
well, my stock 3.1 only has 130 bhp… I was told that the bolt pattern of a 3.4 is better, plus the hp gain would be around 30, not 15.. I’m not sure if it would be the OHC or not though, it may have been an H/O version
Do you mean the 3.4 ohc that came in the w bodies (monte carlos, grand prix) or the 3.4 they call the 3400. If you mean the 3400… Why? For the extra maybe 15 hp.
