…become a nation of paranoid, dissatisfied, shrink-badgered, alienated pill poppers, alcoholics, and Maalox mainliner people, befuddled by so much angst in the midst of so much plenty, having been brainwashed our whole lives to lust for the American Dream, only to find ourselves bewildered by the fact we can’t seem to grasp it?

And I giggled at the Raspberry Sounds part, too.
I agree with everything you say! I think everyone is struggling for this evasive “American Dream” that is impossible to catch, and even more impossible to keep.
Amen!
