Should I buy a H&K USP .40 or Beretta M9?
Im looking to buy my first hand gun. I am 18 years old and cannot test fire a gun (have to be 21). so im just wondering if i can get some pros and cons of both guns and other gun opinions to purchase. Im not interested in a glock. My price range is upwards to 1000 and im only interested in target shooting at the moment. Also other than a opportunity for a suppressor what is the difference between the USP and USP tactical. Thanx.
The USP is lighter because it’s polymer, and it has a much more comfortable grip in my opinion. The M9 grip is notoriously thick because of the double stack mag, however, it holds two more rounds. Personally I think the USP is an awesome gun and I would pick it over the M9. But if you like alloy frames over polymer, than you probably want to get the M9 (although personally, if I was going to get an alloy pistol, I’d go with the SIG P226 for about the same price).
The difference between the USP and the USP Tactical is the threaded barrel, and the adjustable sights vs. fixed sights.
EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention is the difference between the safety features. The M9 has a slide mounted safety lever, which really sucks. It’s almost impossible to engage if you’re holding the gun one handed. Meanwhile, the USP safety lever is perfectly situated on the frame right next to your thumb, which is MUCH more ideal.
