What is the round object in this picture of the Beretta M9A1 handgun new in case?

I actually bought it and can upload a picture of just it if needed. It is all plastic, and has no obvious use.
It’s serves a couple different purposes, it holds the pistol in position inside the case, but it also keeps the case from getting crushed in the center.
There have been many different and amusing uses suggested for it. I find it’s great for small parts, and I keep an extra on my desk for M&M’s.
