Browning BAR, A-Bolt, X-Bolt ?

.300 Win Mag – Which is more accurate, consistent and smooth. I am not worried about recoil as far as my shoulder goes. Using it for whitetail so unless you get luck you usually only get one shot anyway. That’s all it has ever taken with me. “Aim small, miss small.”

The only one I can speak for is the a bolt. I have a old 338 win mag stainless stalker I’ve been using for 16 or 17 years now. I love the 26″ barrel. As for accuracy, about 3/4 moa with good handloads, about 1 1/4 with factory ammo. Only exception is barnes xlc’s. I’d be better off just throwing them at the target. I’ve heard that’s not uncommon with barnes xlc’s though. Some guns love em, but some absolutely hate them. Guess I have the latter. The short bolt lift is nice too. I like the clips they use. You can’t go wrong with the a bolt, but I’ve only heard good things about the x bolt and bar as well. One thing I have noticed is the stock of the a bolt fits me better than most, I’ve noticed less noticible recoil, quicker target aquisition, more comfortable, etc etc etc. As a matter of fact, three weeks ago I killed my best whitetail ever with my 338. It scored 148. Just had to brag a little, that’s the cost for my opinion.
