How can I tell the winter Army camouflage from the others?
My husband has me making a ghillie suit. He said he has an old pair of winter camouflage pants in his footlocker. I don’t want to get in trouble by using the wrong pants. How can I tell the difference assuming there are different patterns for each season?
I am speaking of the old uniforms not the newer ones.
Both previous answers are correct…here’s how to tell the difference.
The “winter” BDUs are made of a thicker fabric. Since “summer” BDUs are made of a thinner fabric, they are made with a certain rip-stop pattern made into the fabric.
As mentioned, the rip-stop fabric will look like it has a grid or tiny tic-tac-toe squares in the fabric that appears a little shiny. It’s been awhile since we’ve worn BDUs, but if I remember right the “winter” BDU pants did not have that extra internal “fly flap” that buttoned on the inside of the waist like the “summer” BDUs had.
