I heard this weird noise last night. I started looking up things on the internet that i thought it was first.?
Of course i tried owl noises but they obviously are more hoots and chirps. Then i tried fox screeches and nothing i heard after listening to about 30 different audio clips matched the sound. Lastly i stumbled upon fisher cat sounds. This is probably the closest thing to it but it still doesnt match. And i live in Illinois and ive never even heard of a fisher cat in my life and im a country boy so i dont think we have them here.
Best way i can describe the sound is take a fisher cat screech/scream and elongate it to about 5-6 seconds and at the end there was almost a growl. I seriously have never ever ever hear anything like this and im 23 years old and grew up with woods all around and tons of strange noises at this. But this one really caught me off guard about 3 a.m. when i was smoking a cigarette. Anyone have any ideas?
my first time backpacking in the wilderness i woke up in the middle of the night to what sounded like banshees – i swear to god i was terrified. as it turns out, it was elk mating calls. have you seen lord of the rings? they used elk calls for the nazgul screaches (flying dragon things that the ring wraiths rode in return of the king). so yea….look up elk calls
Fisher cat screams in the night!
