how do i get my 16 month old to stop eating baby jar food and eat chunkier food?

i have tried to give her foods that my husband and i eat such as banana pudding(she eats a little bit), bread,cereal,finger foods like gerber graduates, fries, eggs, etc. but she won’t eat them she just plays with the food then throws it on the floor. she will hold her sippy cup herself and takes her bib off by herself but she won’t eat anything but gerber 2nd foods. any suggestions? i keep trying but she refuses to eat anything else. my mother in law don’t help either cause she keeps comparing my baby girl to her friends granddaughter that’s 4 months younger and already eating hamburgers and almost anything else off the table. any ideas on what to do?
she usually spits everything back out except her jar food and won’t even try to put the finger foods in her mouth.

I know it’s a pain, but keep offering her food that has more substance. It may take up to 20 times for her to actually like them. See if you can find ONE thing she finds yummy and try that first before you give her the jarred foods. Also you can change the scenery. Like have her sit on the floor with you or on your lap. Might be messy but it may entice her into new foods. Usually it’s the texture they don’t like, it feels weird in their mouths. Keep trying though, eventually she will try some new things.

My daughter was a piggy and ate EVERYTHING!!! My son was a WHOLE other story. He didn’t want anything..but I got him on meat more easily than fruit and veggies, so I went with that. I pureed his meats and gave him little lumps of it to eat. Almost like a paste. Now they both eat me out of house and home! =) Try not to worry, she will eat.
