Why does my 2 handle faucet require the water supply to attach from the floor side?
I had a Gerber 2 handle shower installed to replace and existing 2 handle shower. The old shower valve had the pipes attach from the ceiling side. The plumber installed the Gerber unit the same way. After he was done, he left me with a manual which says “All 2 handle valves MUST have the water supply attach from the floor side of the valve!” and “All 2 handle valves must have the water inlets pointed towards the floor.”
Is it a big deal that it was installed the other way?
Some of the anti-syphon features of some plumbing fixtures use gravity as an activator. If this is the case for your unit, your anti-syphon feature will either not work or it could prevent the flow of the water. I doubt there would be much chance of you syphoning waste water from a shower head so I wouldn’t worry too much about that risk. I think your bigger problem would be if your hot water heats up the anti-syphon and shuts down the flow of water.
