leatherman surge vs. swisstool spirit?
which would be better for everyday use and fishing, etc. i don’t care about price, size or weight
100% choose the Leatherman. The Surge and the Wave both offer more tools, have better adaption kits, and are of a higher quality. I like the Wave, but the surge is really good too.
If you were going to get a Swiss Army tool I would suggest buying the Swiss Tool RS over the Spirit- mostly because of the scissors, but I would never buy a Swiss over a Leatherman.
The Leatherman has better knife blades (a drop point as opposed to a mostly useless spear point), really good scissors (on both models), and a diamond file on the file tool that is necessary for sharpening fish hooks. Also, the blades lock on the Leatherman so they will never close on your finger… however, I can’t fully remember if the Swiss does or does not have locking blades. I don’t think it does though. That would be reason enough not to buy the Swiss.
The saw on the Leatherman cuts branches like butter, but I remember the Swiss also having a pretty good saw.
