Ball python cage set up?
This Saturday I will be FINALLY getting my ball python! But I was wondering how I could set up the tank? Here is everything it has and comes with:
* 55 gallon tank with locking screen top
* 2 heat pads
* 2 caves (hides)
* Coconut substrate that is good for at least another 3 months (may switch to aspen)
* A large water bowl for drinking and bathing
* 3 different heating bulbs
* 2 lamps w/clamps
* A log and a “tree stand” for climbing and scratching
* Care guide book
* Mister
All of this is only $100, including the snake! A great deal, huh?
Well, I was wondering two things:
1. How should I set it up?
2. Should I use ANY of the heat lamps or lamps?
That is a good deal for $100! I hope the ball python is an adult? If so that tank should be perfect.
You will probably have to use both heat pads because it’s such a large tank. You want 1/3 of the tank to be covered with heat pad. Everything sounds good to me. Your snake is not going to be crowed in a 55 gallon tank even with all that stuff. You really can’t crowd a ball python. They do not like open spaces and prefer clutter. I always advise people to fill the tank with fake plants if the ball doesn’t eat because open space stresses them.
