what scope should i get for my air rifle,and whats the difference?
im a good shot with my rifle but iv found that when im hunting with my friends their all getting hits and im finding it hard to see anything from over 75 feet or so.so im looking for a scope,and i found the normal scopes and one called a red dot scope.now being a gun man my self im ashamed to say im not sure what they are because i went to a shop to look at one and it was nothing like i expected it was just a scope with a red dot in the middle,if im gona get one itss gonna be this type of red dot http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11071604/Red_Dot_Scopes_Sights_And_Redfield_Rifle_Scopes.jpg
but could some one tell me what they do? do they automaticaly line up with the target as people tell me? and are they worth gettin?(dont worry about the price im not short of cash). ty guys
You need to make sure you get a scope that is specifically labeled as an air gun scope. Due to the unique forward recoil created by an air gun, the reticle in air rifle scopes is mounted more securely than in a standard rimfire scope.
I would recommend against a red dot scope. Most have little or no magnification. They are fine for quick target acquisition (getting something in your sights quickly) but they don’t offer much in accuracy over open sights.
My recommendation is to get a 4×35 or 4×40 scope.
