Simmons or BSA scope?

I have found someone in the local classifieds that has both a Simmons Prohunter 6-18×40 and a BSA 6-24×44 scope for sale. They are $80 each and are supposed to be like new. I’m thinking about going to check them out, but which is the better scope? I’ll be putting it on a 30-30.
I agree that this is kinda overkill for a 30-30 especially in thick Tennessee woods where a 50 yard shot is considered long, but these are expensive scopes available in my price range.

Neither one. Add a few bucks and get a Nikon 3×9 for about 140 on optics planet.

In brush I might pick a 2×7 scope with a big bell on it and the widest field of view you can get. Even a 4x may be to much in brush.

Picking up deer in brush can be hard if you only have 1sec to make a clean shot. In brush I prefer open sites if I am shooting 25-50yds. At that range a scope is useless unless its a redot or a 1x scope.

On a cloudy day with a mist or fog or near dark conditions I have lost deer in the scope in though I could still see them with my eyes.
