Im Learning to play drums and I don’t know where to start. Advice?
I have an electronic drumet (Simmons SD7K, snare, ride, crash, HH, and 3 toms) and Im trying to get good at drumming. I already know some basic beats and I know rythyms and notes. I just don’t really know what the next step is though to help me drum, cause “just practice” seems kind of vague, do you know a good source that I can learn? Should I try some DVDs or something?
any sort of basic drum set book will get you started on the right path. That’ll give you the most common and useful beats for a variety of styles. once you get that move up to some harder rhythms. once you’ve gotten to that point i would suggest investing some money into a double bass pedal. whether you play metal or not, learning double bass is something every drummer should do. it really helps you develop some interdependence between all of your limbs and in my personal opinion makes you a better drummer.
also use a metronome at all times. its gonna make you solid as a drummer. its def in your best interest to do so.
good luck man.
