Marlin 1894c .357mag?
Hi
I am thinking about fitting a low power scope to my underlever but am unsure about which one would suit my rifle.
A local store has a Simmons Whitetail Classic 1.5-5×20,would this be a good choice?
If there are any others available for upto about $200 that would be better than the Simmons please let me know what they are.
I only use my Marlin for plinking and informal target shooting,no hunting.

The Simmons scope is fine, but you could find a better optic for the price.

My recommendation would be the Leupold VX-I 2x7x33mm variable scope, Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40mm variable, Nikon Buckmaster 4x40mm fixed power, or the Bushnell Elite 3200 series (you can get either a 2-7x32mm or 3-9x40mm for around $200).
Of those listed above, I’d go with the Leupold. http://www.swfa.com/pc-3282-89-leupold-2-7×33-vx-i-riflescope.aspx They have an excellent reputation for standing behind their product, and the VX-I is an excellent optic for the money. You’ll find that it is light, compact, bright and plenty of power for .357 magnum ranges. It weighs 10.5 ounces and is 11 inches in length. For plinking, I’d go with the variable scopes over the fixed power offerings. FP offers a wider field of view and simplicity in design, but you want to be able to adjust power to compensate for distance and the size of your target(s).
Don’t forget rings and bases. This will add on an additional $50-$200.
